Mugello GP, induced growth over 2023: here’s how much it amounts to​

The first European leg of the 2024 MotoGP season will end with the Italian Grand Prix, scheduled for May 31 to June 2 at the Mugello circuit. This seventh round is crucial, with Jorge Martin, leader of the standings and eager for a place on an official team for next season, being chased by Pecco Bagnaia, winner of the last Catalan GP. Marc Marquez is the third wheel, while Enea Bastianini and Maverick Viñales seek redemption. 

THE ECONOMIC SPIN-OFF OF THE MUGELLO GP

The Italian Grand Prix is not only a major sporting event but also represents an important source of economic inducement for the area. After a 2022 with only 74,000 race weekend attendances and an induced revenue of just over 60 million euros, 2023 saw a significant recovery. With more than 135,000 attendances, the Grand Prix generated GP revenues of 29.9 million euros, plus more than 81.4 million euros in extra revenues from fan spending in the territory, for a total of 111.3 million euros.

As reported by Sport and Finance, if the 2017 attendance record of 164,418 spectators could be matched, GP revenues could reach 36.3 million euros, while extra revenues would come close to 100 million euros. The total induced revenue in 2024 could then reach 134.9 million euros, contributing significantly to the local economy.
